Two classes are recorded and available for you to download thru lulu.com. Click on the links below to learn more:

Grants for Writers: Follow the Money!  (Multimedia Download $3.95) - approx. 38 minutes.

Book Publishing Contracts: Be Prepared Before Signing on the Dotted Line  (Multimedia Download $4.95) - approx. 64 minutes, 27 seconds.

My live classroom writing workshops include the following - and many more:

  • Writing Your Non-Fiction Book Proposal

Most non-fiction books are accepted for publication solely on the basis of the proposal package. The book itself isn't even written. Are you planning on writing a non-fiction book? Then be prepared!

This two-session teleseminar provides writers with (a) an overview of the publication submittal process in order that writers understand how the data included in the proposal will help sell their manuscript to a publisher; (b) detailed information about the type of material and statistics editors and agents are expecting to find in your proposal; (c) leads on where you can track down the myriad details required; (d) the format and structure of non-fiction book proposals.

  • Agents: What You Need to Know - Who You Need to Avoid

  • Practical information for writers. You can waste valuable time, energy, and money by signing with an inexperienced (or unscrupulous) agent.

Learn the actual role an agent plays. Writers understand the skills and experience a quality agent will demonstrate, and specifics of how (and where to go) to check an agent's background and successes, as well as the basics of a sound agent contract. Also writers, take to heart some examples of scams, behaviors, and contract terminology provided during this class that may signal a warning to stay away from some individuals.

  • Grants for Writers: Follow the Money!

Have you ever wondered aloud, "I wish there was someone out there who could help pay for my book to be written?" Well, there are ways to have some of those expenses covered! This class provides an overview of various funding organizations and methods that are specifically focused on providing funding to writers. Gain an understanding of some general requirements and limitations of each type, hear guidelines from specific grant organizations that you may find very appropriate for your own work-in-progress. Information about specific source material listing grants will also be included. (See above; recorded class information also available via download.)

  • Perils and Disasters: The Days After Publication

An author's work doesn't end with publication. This seminar offers a humorous look at a few of the outlandish things that can and have gone wrong for authors immediately after publication. Whether it was the distributor, an online retailer, the bookstore's booking agent, or others, mistakes can be made that trickle-down through the publishing industry links, so it's important to catch 'em quick. Guess what? No one's looking except the author! (1 hour)

  • Live or taped phone interviews with successful authors.

45 minute to one-hour interviews with authors writing in various genres.

Claire Krulikowski and AshootingstarZ Production offers editing services, instructional writing classes and informational interviews in very convenient formats, such as a teleseminars (telephone classes) or MP3 download, or, perhaps, via a PDF or Word document. Also, an on-site class may be scheduled in your region!
